Bowen Therapy

The Bowen Technique is a gentle non-invasive hands-on therapy. The practitioner performs gentle moves over muscles and soft tissue, interspersed by short breaks. It is non-invasive and can be performed through light clothing. The effects are often remarkable, I am constantly amazed by the simplicity and effectiveness of Bowen. It does not involve the manipulation of hard tissue and no force is used. A treatment lasts about 30-45 minutes. We do not over-treat, and a minimum of 7 days is recommended between treatments to allow the healing process to take place. As the condition improves it is usual to have a treatment between 2 to 4 weeks.

Conditions treated.

Bowen treats muscular skeletal problems, such as frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, back and neck pain, knee and ankle problems. Asthma, hayfever, migraine, digestive and reproductive problems. All age groups respond well to Bowen. It is suitable for babies with colic and bed-wetting, and elderly people benefit from this gentle, effective therapy. I have treated post-stroke and MS with much success.

Herbal medicine and Bowen work well together, and I sometimes prescribe herbs if it is appropriate. This is always discussed beforehand.
